Ordered Dither Laboratory
Welcome to the Ordered Dither Laboratory!
This is an experimental tool to make temporary dither pattern brushes for drawing in Decker.
(If you've wandered in from elsewhere this is a tool for Decker, made during Deck-Month 3)
How do I use this...
Copy this card into your own deck then have fun!And probably turn on the toolbars (Decker > Toolbars) so you can easily see and use the new brushes you create! (This option will not be available in the itch.io embed, sorry)
Are these like Decker's 1-bit logical patterns?
Nope! You can use any color in your palette with these patterned brushes. (On the other hand, they don't use any of the features that you get with logical patterns like easy flood fill. If you'd like to edit the logical patterns instead check out the second contraption in this post)What do you mean temporary brushes?
These brushes will only exist for the current session of your current deck! Maybe you need big brushes during one session, and tiny brushes the next. Just make what you need at the time and know they'll all be cleaned up later. It's all experimental for now!Aside from any brushes you make, there's also the "test" brush which live updates with your selections on the ditherlab card.
But what if I want to keep my favorite brushes forever? 🥺
You can make a brush module of your favorites and bring them with you into all your future projects. Check out the Decker documentation or the community forums if you need help with that.Download

this is so cool! not my best work but it was fun to have a little doodle in the test box!
WHOA! That's amazing!! I'm so happy to see the tool used for something so cool.
amazing! best new digital toy of 2026 already I can't believe it
People yearn for halftones and dithers! Thank you so much for checking it out.
This is excellent!! I'm inspired to make something with halftoning using this ^__^
If these tools are used in a Decker project, how would you prefer to be credited?
I really hope this works out for you! If you have any trouble with the tool feel free to reach out. I suspect this thing will go through a couple waves of improvement over time.
Oh, gosh, um. Wow! No obligation to credit even if you do use this but if you wanted to be thorough you could say something like "some brushes created with Dither Lab" with a link back here so people could use it in their own projects if they wanted to? That might be neat.
Good luck with your future projects :D
This is so awesome!! When I was drawing and shading or adding texture, I was wishing dithering tooling was more customizable. So I really love this! Everyone planning to draw in Decker should check this out!
Thank you so much for all the resources and tools you make for Decker. :)
Yay! You're so very welcome! Thank you for checking it out!
